Hi Louise. I've just recently come across your teachings and art and all I can express right now is my gratitude to you for sharing your wisdom with us. Only last night I was asking myself "how do I find my voice if I enjoy different kinds of art". I know I love exploring abstract/intuitional acrylic abstract, but I also love working on highly textured canvasses, and because I battle to keep my paintings minimalist but love the concept of minimalist abstract, I have tried and love pushing myself out of my comfort zone into more minimalistic, Wabi Sabi style paintings, both textured and untextured. You video today has helped me to realise that it's OK to do all of these and to find my own unique voice in each. Thank you sweet lady 💐💝

You always have important thoughts you express which resonates with me. I can hear myself saying inside my head and heart, yes yes THATS exactly how I feel too. I want to paint. I want to do collage with acrylics, but I don’t know how. I just Have to! As I write my stomach is doing flip flops from just thinking about art. I’m returning to art after decades of a nursing career. My previous art experience was as a commercial artist, where everything was planned and executed with precision. I’m currently in CVP and am learning so much valuable information. Even with all that wonderful knowledge, I need to master covering and uncovering and recovering….that is a new practice for me and it’s a completely different mindset.

There is another approach towards abstract art: create enough suggestions or implied forms, minimally described, so that the viewer can project their own meanings in it. Don't expect an artist to emphasize a focal point or mood or consideration, just enough painterly content to attract your eye so that you spend time with it. Viewers will 'make something of it'. Anything that the artist does to make a point to the painting is likely to force the viewer to lose out on the opportunity to see a painting in its multiplicity - like we see other people in their multiplicity. It is time for art to shine as something that people can have a long lasting relationship with, and not be just a 'thing'.

A truly beautiful and helpful video. Having listened to many artists try to explain their process and intention over the last 50 years, your presentation is extremely down-to-earth and insightful - a tricky thing to achieve in my opinion because it's about the process of engaging deep levels of abstraction within the artist in order to render an abstract image in a physical form, a painting. You hit all the major points in a very clear way. I love your emphasis on the fundamental skills that are always needed: use of color, value, and composition. Well done!

Thank you so much Louise for sharing your thoughts about your art and how what happens when you get rejected. I live in a small community and each year were have a craft show. I show my art but I do not get any interest, so this makes me think my art is not good. And makes me think I should give up.

I’m in week seven of CVP and he’s included a journal aspect to it as well.
